  15. VLB/PCI Windows 95 driver.  By using this driver, you have accepted

  17. responsibility for any issues that may develop with your computer system

  44. *  Driver Description
  45.  
  46.        This is a non-accelerated Windows 95 Display Driver for the Viper
  47.  
  48.     VLB/PCI series.  All configurations, all pixel depths, all resolutions,
  49.     
  50.     and virtualization are supported.

  53. Driver Installation Procedure :

  59. (If you are Installing Windows95 for the first time)
  60.  
  61. 1. If you have a PCI-bus Display Adapter the Plug & Play manager will recognize
  62.  
  63.    the Weitek Chipset and during installation you may be asked to select the
  64.  
  65.    drivers for your display card (If not asked then choose VGA and refer to
  66.  
  67.    the next Procedure). There is usually a list of several driver installation
  68.  
  69.    options, including buttons for "Default", "Standard VGA" etc.
  70.

  72. 2. Choose the "Manufacturer Supplied Drivers" option in the window and then
  73.  
  74.    the Have Disk button. Insert the diskette containing the Viper Drivers
  75.  
  76.    (e.g. the diskette in A: drive) and enter the location of the driver
  77.  
  78.    diskette e.g. A:\ (if the diskette is in that drive)

  81. 3. Choose the appropriate option that matches the description of the card in
  82.  
  83.    your system and click on OK.

  86. After installation you can return to the Display Settings window where you can
  87.  
  88. select your preferred resolution and color depth.

  95. 1. Open the Control Panel folder and choose the Display Icon or, using the
  96.  
  97.    mouse, right-click on an empty space in the main Desktop Window and choose
  98.  
  99.    Properties.

  102. 2. Click on the tabbed Windows titled Settings and then click on the button
  103.  
  104.    Change Display Type.
  105.

  107. 3. You should first select the Monitor Model to match your system if this is
  108.  
  109.    already done skip to the next step.

  112. 4. Click on the Change button in the Adapter Type window and then the Have
  113.  
  114.    Disk button.
  115.

  117. 5. Enter the location of the Viper VLB/PCI drivers on your hard disk.
  118.

  120. 6. Choose the appropriate option that matches the description of the card in
  121.  
  122.    your system and Click on OK.

  125. The drivers will be installed and you will be returned to the main Settings
  126.  
  127. window where you can select your preferred resolution and color depth. After
  128.  
  129. you have selected a mode you will be asked if System can be restarted.

  139. Using the WeitekCPLX utility :

  143. After system restarts, and the next time you open the Display Properties
  144.  
  145. window from Control Panel (or by right-clicking over an empty spot on the
  146.  
  147. Desktop and selecting Properties) you can enter the utility by choosing the
  148.  
  149. window tab titled WeitekPower.
  150.  
  151.  
  152. This is the DisplayProperties Control Panel Extension (CPLX) for supporting
  153.  
  154. the Viper VLB/PCI Windows95 Display Drivers. Using this utility you can
  155.  
  156. select a prefered Refresh Rate, Monitor Sync and adjust Monitor Alignment,
  157.  
  158. dynamically changing the Size and/or the Postion of the visible screen.
  159.  
  160. Additionally you can change the default settings of your card to improve
  161.  
  162. performance in certain application types, or enable the special features of
  163.  
  164. your card.
  165.  
  166.  
  167. Context Sensitive help is supplied through-out this utility.  You can get
  168.  
  169. pop-up help on any control, or setting, by right-clicking with the mouse on
  170.  
  171. that item.  Additionally, Windows95 also provides a Help Tool, the "?" button
  172.  
  173. at the top right of the window. Click this button and then select the control
  174.  
  175. that you wish to learn more about.

  230.            * This driver does not accelerate Graphics or Video operations.

  232.     * Video BIOS versions 1.x are not supported in this version of 
  233.       the driver.

  235.     * When selecting 1280x1024 8bpp, a blank screen is produced and the monitor
  236.       loses sync. Currently, the NEC 5FG monitor is the only selection that is
  237.       known to create this issue.
  238.  
  239.     * The screen centering appelet does not properly save the settings. If you use
  240.       this utility to center the screen you will have to readjust your monitor 
  241.       settings after restarting.
